Year 3 First Holy Communion

House building

Posted 22/11/2016

What a fabulous morning!

Y3 and Y4, spent a very busy couple of hours building Saxon houses, along with parents/grandparents and other relatives. Our school hall was like a scene from a farm yard, with hay covering every inch of the floor and tables. We were particularly impressed with the support our willing helpers offered to the children and the children to each other.

This is just some of the things that the parents had to say.

'Wow day was really amazing! The children worked in a team and supported each other....'

'The thing I like the most was everybody smiling and helping each other...'

Welcome to Year 3!

Throwing and catchingThrowing and catchingWell...The beautiful weather has certainly meant we could make the most of our PE time.  We have been learning how to play the game of rounders, as well as learning how to throw and catch over long and short distances. The children have been learning how to work as a team, as well as developing their own skills.

Nothing like the smell of melted chocolate drifting through the school building to get your mouth watering.  All hands on deck today when six of our year three pupils got their hands dirty (or rather chocolaty!). Nothing like a bit of Rocky Road to bring the smiles out!

Octopus ArtOctopus Art

We had lots of helpers during Arts Week, thank you to everyone that helped us. Mrs Littlewood and Mrs Free came into school and worked with every class on a different type of art. Each piece has been put together to make a huge whole school art piece, which you can see in our school hall. Year two's job was to create an octopus for the display. We had so much fun making it!

Museum GardensMuseum Gardens

This is when Year 2 went to York Art Gallery. We had lots of fun! For most of the day the sun was shining. We spent the morning at Rainbows Ceramic Café, where we decorated individual tiles (see below). In this picture we are walking through the Museum Gardens on our way to the Art Gallery where we enjoyed our packed lunches on the grass.

These are our tiles before they went in the kiln. They are much

brighter now they have been fired. You can see the finished pieces

in our classroom and in the school hall.

To start our new topic, everyone in Years 1 and 2 had a WOW day! A Super Start to Year 2!

Posted 28/9/2015

We have made a fabulous start to Year 2 and been very busy with lots of exciting lessons and activities. Here are just a few of the things we have been doing so far in our classroom...

Reading with Miss PicklesReading with Miss PicklesWe love reading in St George's class and are super listeners too! Here we are reading with Miss Pickles at the end of a busy day.

Peace at LastPeace at Last

In literacy we learn different texts using Talk for Writing. In this picture you can see some of us imitating the actions to our story with a familiar setting, Peace at Last.

Multi Skills in PEMulti Skills in PE

In PE we have been learning all about Gymnastics and Multi Skills. We have been practising throwing and catching, working individually and with a partner. We need to remember to concentrate and try to catch each object that we throw.

 A magical doorA magical door

In the first week of school Isaiah found a secret door hidden behind some ivy in our classroom. Later in the week Bartosz spotted a letter peeping out of the ivy. The letter explained that a fairy lived behind the door! We were given an important job of finding a name for him/her. As a class we chose Robin. We are so excited to learn lots more about Robin and the magical world where he/she is from! We have already been given some special homework to write a letter to Robin and tell him/her all about ourselves.

Collective WorshipCollective Worship

We have daily worships at St Mary's and a few times a week we have class collective worship in our classroom. We have been learning all about the different parts to a worship and have made a great start at working with Miss Pickles and Miss Henderson to plan our class worships. We have been trying to make them interesting for the children in our class.
